Multi-platinum Flawless/Geffen recording artist, Puddle Of Mudd, release their fourth studio set, VOLUME 4: SONGS IN THE KEY OF LOVE & HATE, on December 8. The album follows the phenomenal success of POM’s third release, 2007's Famous. Famous proved the band’s consistency to deliver to not only their fans, but on all business platforms. One single off of Famous, “Psycho,” earned Billboard Magazine's highest honors - #1 Mainstream Rock Song of the Year, #4 Hot Modern Rock Song of the Year, as well as Mainstream Rock #2 Artist of 2008. Radio and Records posted “Psycho” as the #1 Rock Song of 2008, #2 Active Rock Song of the Year, and POM earned their Number 3 status for Rock Artist of the Year.

Recording Volume 4 in Vancouver & Los Angeles, Puddle Of Mudd (POM) smartly re-enlisted the talents of Brian Howes, who produced the aforementioned Famous and John Kurzweg, who produced 2001’s album, Come Clean. "Even though we hate messing with success, we felt adding newcomer Brain Virtue to the producer mix would be a welcome change," say frontman Wes Scantlin. "What we got is 10 tracks of exactly what we were looking for," adds Scantlin.

In addition to singer/guitarist Wes Scantlin, bassist Douglas Ardito, drummer Ryan Yerdon and the return of guitarist Paul Phillips on guitars round out the POM line-up. The band’s 2001 debut album Come Clean generated four #1 alternative and rock radio hit singles (“Blurry,” “She Hates Me,” “Control” and “Drift And Die”), with “Blurry” becoming the most played track on Modern Rock Radio for 2002 and scooping the ASCAP award for most played song of the year. 2003 saw the release of their follow up Life On Display, which featured the top 5 radio hit “Away From Me” and the top 10 hit “Heel Over Head.”

The first single from Volume 4, “Spaceship,” will be available to fans October 27^th on Amazon.com and iTunes. For the video, the band hired Petro Papahadjopoulos to create the visual component that will include guest appearances by Nitro Circus, action sport legends – Travis Pastrana, Jolene Van Vugt, Jim DeChamp, Andy Bell, Erik Roner, “Streetbike” Tommy Passemante, Jeremy Rawle, Gregg Godfrey, and Hubert Rowland.

"It's easy and predictable to say I’m most proud of this record," says band frontman Wes Scantlin, adding "but I think it's more appropriate to say I’m most proud of what we've accomplished as a band to this point." The music business has gotten nothing but more difficult over the years, since the band's debut. But an unfazed Scantlin is quick to credit not only their ability to write ear-friendly songs, but to credit the fans that react to them. Says Wes, "we've not only navigated the minefield successfully, but we've laid our own on the battlefield that is this business. As self-sufficient as ever, we virtually depend on the fans to come through for us - and because of that, this band is built for the future."

Though the five member of Texas' Flyleaf are all Christians, it would be unfair to immediately label them a "Christian rock" band. Yes, their faith inevitably has an impact on their art, but they don't allow it to become an unavoidable theme. But, Flyleaf are - as this, their second albums, proves - a super-tight metal band capable of writing a more - than - decent tune. Frontwoman Lacey Mosley has a voice that puts Amy Lee to shame, while guitarists Jared Hartmann and Sameer Bhattacharya have far more up their sleeves than standard metal power chords. This album's weak point is the fact that it has been polished to within an inch of its life. Any rough edge has been thrown into the Pro Tools trash can, while the songs are crying out for a little bit of character. Still, Memento Mori is a good album, with the awesome "Set Apart This Dream" and "Again" shining with their anthemic choruses and deft use of pop melody. The tragedy is that it could have been great.

So we are off and running with the Reworked tour. Brighton was a lot of fun and the gig went great I think. Was nervous on stage for longer than I have been since the first gigs we ever did. Suppose it’s appropriate as we are looking back over the last 15 years. Thank you to all that came to the Brighton Centre on Wednesday night. May have been a little strange for some of you but it was for us too so we were all in the same boat. There are a few things that didn’t work and we’re gonna spend today’s soundcheck correcting that.

I don’t normally watch us on the telly nor do I enjoy listening back over live recordings as I tend to spend the duration squirming in my seat and cursing at myself for bad vocal tuning so it’s best just to avoid it altogether for the most part. I did though watch children in need last night and thought the whole show was great especially Dizzy with Dame Shirley. I also thought Cheryl did a marvellous job of Set The Fire. It’s a tough song to carry off as the original singer of the song was Martha Wainwright, possibly the greatest female singer of her generation. It’s a tricky hill to climb because of that and few singers will get close to the pain, passion and soul of Martha. Cheryl tackled it with honesty and tenderness and, although some of you on this site haven’t been very kind to her about it, you should, at the very least, give her credit for that and the bravery she showed for even agreeing to do it in the first place. She was well out of her comfort zone and not many singers in her position would be daring enough to attempt anything like it.

All that said this forum is a place where you should feel free to voice whatever you think whenever you think it. I’m only giving you an alternative view to think on. Personally I like looking at songs in as many ways as possible and this tour is giving us all free reign to do just that in ways we’ve only begun to touch on. Exciting times for a restless spirit such as myself. Set The Fire itself will go through many more interpretations as the tour goes on. Strange and wonderful I hope as ‘strange and wonderful’ is my deepest hope for every day of life for all those I love and myself who some days I kind of like.

Bristol tonight. It’ll be a slightly different set to Brighton. We’ll try and change it each night if we can, certainly in places where we have more than one show. One thing will remain the same though, the first half will be softer, quieter and will feature older songs so please do get there early if you want to hear some older stuff. We start at eight each night. After about 40 minutes we take a short break to have a wild sex party backstage. About half way through the second set things will start to get louder and do feel free to stand up and shake your tail feathers. I hope you do.

Whatever happens I hope you all have fun. Am already really enjoying this tour and looking at the songs in new ways has made me fall in love with some of them all over again. Even Starfighter Pilot. There, I said it!
