Fundraiser for Steelo Vazquez | News

Many fans may remember the very talented dancer Steelo Vazquez who was featured in Gwen's Early Winter video and also performed with her during The Sweet Escape Tour. Steelo recently suffered a life-threatening injury and the Los Angeles dance community is hosting a fundraiser on December 6th to benefit his recovery.

On June 19th, Steelo suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and had to undergo emergency surgery. During the operation and subsequent surgeries, Steelo suffered four additional ruptures and lost his ability to walk and speak. Today, Steelo remains in an extensive rehabilitation program where doctors are helping him relearn basic functions. His wife Penelope has constantly been by his side during the slow recovery in ICU. It was actually during a show on Gwen’s tour that Steelo proposed to his now wife, Penelope Vazquez. Their son just celebrated his 1st birthday.

Steelo’s friends, family and doctors are hopeful that through therapy he will make a full recovery over time.

On December 6th at the Saban Theater in Beverly Hills there will be an event to raise money for Steelo's medical costs and to help support his wife and young son. The event will feature performances from some of the biggest names in the dance community including Jabbawockeez (MTV's America's Best Dance Crew), Twitch (So You Think You Can Dance,) Team iLLuminate (America's Got Talent) and Beat Freaks (featuring Music from the Harajuku Girls.) There will be a raffle and silent auction as well, including items from Gwen and No Doubt.

Messages of Hope Arrive in Japan | News

Back in June at Gwen's Harajuku-themed tea party benefiting Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund, each guest was given a Momiji Message Doll to paint and write a special message for the children of Japan. Gwen and Momiji sent the dolls to Japan so that Save The Children could give them to the local children -- and the dolls have now arrived!

The customized dolls were presented at the "Event of Re-Construction for Rikuzentakata". Rikuzentakata, a city in Iwate, Japan, was heavily destroyed by the March, 2011 earthquake and tsunami. Many of the city's residents lost their homes, businesses and lives as a result.

New Fishbone Documentary Premieres This Week, Features Interviews With No Doubt | News

The new documentary "Everyday Sunshine: The Story of Fishbone" explores the history and legacy of the band Fishbone and includes interviews with No Doubt, Flea, Ice T, Perry Farrell and many others. The documentary premieres this weekend in select theaters. Special screenings are planned in both Los Angeles and Long Beach this Friday, October 21 and will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and members of Fishbone. Dear Friends,
We've been incommunicado for the past few weeks so we wanted to reach out and say hi. Work on the new No Doubt album is well underway and we can't wait to share it with you. The past twelve months have been eventful; we performed for Paul McCartney and President Obama at the Kennedy Center Honors, three beautiful new No Doubt babies were born, and we've recorded in studios all over Los Angeles. Ideally our new record would be coming out this year but it's just not ready yet. We don't want to rush this album just to get it out. This collection of songs means everything to us and our only priority right now is to make sure that it's the best album we can possibly make. There is still more work for us to do...

We love our fans and are doing this for your ears and want you to know how much we appreciate your patience and support. We'll keep you updated here at nodoubt.com and on our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

UK-based company Momiji will be hosting an auction featuring dolls autographed by Gwen Stefani to help raise additional funds for Save the Children. Gwen signed these dolls for her friends at Momiji when they very generously traveled to Los Angeles to help with the charity event. They donated 200 dolls that were painted by fans at the event and shipped to children in Japan that were affected by the recent earthquake and Tsunami. Gwen also signed 6 special Chiyo dolls for Momiji to auction with all proceeds benefitting Save the Children. Gwen recently hosted a Harajuku-themed tea party for 200 loyal fans at Royal/T in Los Angeles. Through generous donations the event raised nearly $120,000 for Save The Children’s relief effort in Japan. To make the event extra special, Gwen invited her friends from the UK-based company Momiji to join the project. Momiji brought their super-kawaii, unique message dolls to the tea party where each attendee painted and wrote messages to the children in Japan who were affected by the recent earthquake and tsunami. On June 7, Gwen Stefani hosted a private Harajuku-themed tea party at Royal/T to benefit Save the Children’s Japan Earthquake-Tsunami Children in Emergency Fund. Guests were treated to a surprise performance by No Doubt.

200 lucky fans enjoyed a personal meet and greet with Gwen at Royal/T, Los Angeles' first-ever Japanese-style “cosplay” maid café and pop art space. Other special guests included her No Doubt bandmates Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal and Adrian Young, and husband Gavin Rossdale. Gwen’s former muses Love, Angel, Music and Baby were also on hand alongside Royal/T’s “maid” servers. The event included a raffle featuring collectible vintage L.A.M.B. memorabilia from Gwen’s own closet, Harajuku Lovers fragrance sets and other merchandise including UK-based Momiji message dolls.

Stefani said, "Meeting the fans who donated their money for Save the Children's relief effort in Japan was so inspiring. It was an incredible day filled with lots of emotion. I can't believe I had the opportunity to host an event that could actually help people. I never thought that in my life I could make a difference but through the power of music and fashion we were all brought together to help the kids in Japan. It feels amazing to give a little back to a culture that has given me so much."

"Gwen's Save the Children event was a beautiful evening. Not only could we do our small part in the effort to raise funds for those affected by the Japanese earthquake and tsunami, we got to play an extremely fun and intimate surprise live set for the very generous fans that donated a lot of money for a great cause," said No Doubt’s Tony Kanal.

Following the devastation caused by the recent earthquake and tsunami in Japan, Gwen personally donated $1 million to Save the Children. To raise additional funds she hosted the Harajuku-themed tea party at Royal/T for 200 loyal fans and helped to raise nearly $120,000 more for the charity and their relief effort. Generous vendors who donated services for the event included UK-based Momiji, Eric Buterbaugh Flower Design, Lauren Hillary Photography, Rony’s Photo Booth, Valet of the Dolls, and Classic Party Rentals. On Dec 5, No Doubt performed at the 2010 Kennedy Center Honors held in Washington, D.C. Along with James Taylor, Steven Tyler, Dave Grohl, Norah Jones, Mavis Staples and others, No Doubt paid tribute to musical legend Sir Paul McCartney . Studio Update From the Band | News

Hello there,

I can see how our tweets might have been less than clear about our songwriting and recording process. We worked (in a little studio) most of last year writing songs. We 'demo' them as we write, which is like making rough draft recordings.

At one point we did go into a 'real' studio last year (in May I think) to really record some of them for the final album versions.

But we didn't finish those songs completely in that session. After that we resumed in the writing studio and wrote more tunes during the rest of last year.

Now, starting today, we're back in a real studio really recording again. Excitedly!

There are two new ND babies coming soon, mine and Tony's, so there will be a little delay for that. :-)

This process does take us awhile, it always has. Plus life is a little more complicated and busy than it was before we all had kids etc.

So the goal is to write a couple songs more this year and of course finish recording all of them.

We're really really happy with the new songs and feel this great sense of momentum going into the new year.
